Today we completed CIA’s biggest event – Project Barbara in Apple Valley, CA. We had 18 volunteers out today helping this family clear their 5 acre property. What a great day we all had. Some of the APU students I signed up from last week’s Soul Quest event showed up to serve, and we are touching more people through our initiative and programs. It was such a hot day! Sunscreen and plenty of water to drink! We were treated to a nice lunch hosted by our need family. After the day’s work I came home to rest a little before heading out for the night.
Tonight I went to Debbie’s concert at Angel City in Bellflower, CA. This is a Christian music cafe that hosts concerts every weekend, and bands come in to showcase their music, songs and cool tunes. Tonight’s headliner was Debbie Kay, and Josh & The Rise Band were the back up. What an awesome night out with the whole gang.
Since I started attending the Harvest Church, I have met many new friends and talented people. Debbie is a rock star, Jeff is a master at music and lyrics, and you’ll eventually hear about the rest of the church team soon. I am very fortunate to know all these people, let alone be a big part of their lives, especially in worship and praise. Tonight’s concert reminded me of Hillsong Church. I miss Hillsong! But what is better, I am part of a church that is growing into something like Hillsong – we are going from ordinary to extraordinary!
Most of our regular church members came tonight to support Debbie and Josh. I was part of the technical sound and merchandising team! What a great way to support a friend. Jeff did the soundboard tonight, and I backed him up! Jeff and I get along well, even though we are two completely different individuals, we make a great team - at work, play and rest! We are working together at CIA. He’s always bouncing off new innovative ideas about CIA and I can’t help do the same, we are certainly making an impact in our community. Tonight [we] talked more about where CIA is headed – we are actually planning a CIA Concert in the next few weeks, to launch the initiative, and get more youth involved in service and volunteering.
After the concert we all went to Denny’s Restuarant with the whole band! It was cool to hang with all these young Christians who love God so much, they give thanks and praise to Jesus through their songs and music. Darla & Don came down for the night too! Here are a few pics from tonight.
Have a blessed night my friends!
