I like Friday mornings… I get up early and go for a run, have a nice relaxing breakfast when I get back, and start my day in prayer – every morning I spend some quiet time meditating, reading my devotional and talking to God. All my anxieties, stresses and doubts are all cleared – like hitting the Refresh button on your IE browser. Click! Here is a new page, or new day!
“Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” - Psalm 5:3
This week has been busy with Soul Quest, CIA preparations, kids, work and just everyday stuff. I picked up the kids from school this afternoon and ran some errands. We had a play date with a new friend I met at Soul Quest this week; her daughter Cami seemed to like hanging with Bella & Ty. Bella shared her toys and Ty showed off his car collection. It was nice to see the kids interact with new friends.
Early this evening we had dinner at Laura’s place, I planned on having a quiet night at home just the kids and I, we have a busy CIA project tomorrow, but Bella & Ty wanted to hang out with Samantha. I didn’t mind the change in plans, we ended up having a BBQ and the kids got to play on the ’slip & slide.’
Tonight when we got home, the kids were ready for bed. Ty is always the first to crash out. He was so tired and worn out from playing today, he snuggled on me before he turned over and dreamed away. Bella watched TV till I got ready for bed, and she too just rolled over and went to sleep.
I always step out of their rooms quietly, I can’t resist, but to turn back and watch them sleep peacefully. As a father of two, I have a sense of pride and amazement when I walk back to their beds, give them a kiss on their foreheads, and whisper “I love you my precious child.” I sometimes stand there for a few minutes and just watch, thankful for my blessings and praying to God to keep them safe. And as I walk out their rooms and close the door behind me, I know they know I love them, and so does God.
Tomorrow we have a CIA project, so an early start to the day for us. We are having breakfast at the Hirst’s casa, and then all the kids are coming over to our house for play and games, whilst the parents get to work serving our community. This weekend we are helping a family clear their property to comply with a SBCFD compliance order. After the project we are all heading down to SVL for a picnic and some swimming.
Well, it has turned out to be a great end to the work week and the start of the weekend. This Sunday is Mother’s Day – the kids have made a special collage for their mom, it should be a nice gift. The kids miss their mom… sometimes dad does too!
Good night and farewell to you.
